New Album! Singing Stone: The Music of Christopher Sainsbury
Ensemble Three are featured on the new album Singing Stone: The Music of Christopher Sainsbury to be released in April 2024. The title track is a major work in five movements written for Ensemble Three. The album includes Ken's guitar on each track and Joel is featured on for the duo Pacific, arranged for trumpet and guitar. Both recordings are world premieres.
Europe Tour
Joel and Ken will be giving a number of performances in May/June 2024 throughout Italy, Albania, and Kosovo performing newly-commissioned works by Alan Holley, Johanna Selleck, Eriona Rushiti, Enis Mullaj, Kris Sopoqoti, Jetmir Zaganjori, Kreshnik Aliçkaj, and Ken Murray.
Leilihua Lanzilotti Residency
Leilihua Lanzilotti will be a Macgeorge Fellow at the University of Melbourne in late 2023, working with Ensemble Three on a new work.
MRC Music Always Tour
Ensemble Three will be touring Melbourne and its surrounds as part of the Melbourne Recital Centre's Music Always program, performing at a number of aged care and assisted living facilities.
Cancellations
This years' performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre and the tour to Tokyo have been cancelled due to the global pandemic. These events will be rescheduled for 2021 and 2022!
Tokyo: Born Creative Festival
Ensemble Three will be featured in the 2020 Born Creative festival in Tokyo. More details soon!

New Album: Greenbaum Sonatas
'Return Journey: Ensemble Three Play Sonatas By Stuart Greenbaum' has been released by ABC Classics and is available for purchase on iTunes.
USA Tour
Ensemble Three will be giving performances in the USA in late February, 2019. More news to follow.
MRC 2018 Local Heroes
We're delighted to have been selected for the 2018 "Local Heroes" series at the Mlbourne Recital Centre. We'll perform concerts in February and July.
ITA 2017
We'll be heading to California to perform at the International Trombone Festival.
Contemporary Masters
Ensemble Three is honoured to have been chosen to receive the 2017 "Contemporary Masters" award from the Melbourne Recital Centre for our world premiere performance of James Ledger's "Voodoo Sonnets" on our "Australian Electric" concert in February!

This evening of music and discussion features the work of Leilehua Lanzilotti, a Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) composer / sound artist dedicated to the arts of our time. A "leading composer-performer" (The New York Times), Lanzilotti's work is characterized by expansive explorations of timbre. Lanzilotti's practice explores radical indigenous contemporaneity by integrating community engagement and ways of knowing into the heart of projects.

Leilehua's residency in Melbourne is supported by the Macgeorge Bequest. She currently in Melbourne on a Macgeorge fellowship working on her opera Lili'u, celebrating the legacy of the last queen of Hawai'I, Queen Lili'uokalani.

Promoting a casual approach to sound and movement, the Centre’s series of Relaxed Performances provides the same exceptional artists in the best place to hear, with an environment specifically suited for audiences with sensory sensitivities. A relaxed performance is designed to create a safe and welcoming environment for people with autism, learning disabilities and sensory or communication needs. There is the ability for audience members to enter and exit the venue throughout the concert, the house lights will be turned on, and the sound will be moderated, providing a comfortable and less formal musical experience. With performances running for 45 minutes, this series is also perfect for young families. Children will be free to wriggle if they need, or leave the Primrose Potter Salon and move to a designated quiet area in the ground level foyer.
